Investment Manager

Salary £48,474 to £51,515 per annum

NILGOSC is the largest pension fund in Northern Ireland and we are currently looking for a new member of staff to join our Investment team to assist with managing the investment of the pension fund.  

The Role: as Investment Manager you will be responsible for managing a segment of NILGOSC’s global investment portfolio and be the Investment lead with NILGOSC’s global custodian.  Duties will include:

  • Monitoring, reviewing and reporting on a segment of NILGOSC’s global portfolio in accordance with the Statement of Investment Principles and statutory regulations.
  • Advising the Committee on investment issues to facilitate the formation of investment policy and assist decision making.
  • Undertaking technical financial due diligence on a wide range of investment strategies and funds to identify suitable investment opportunities.
  • Responsibility for the completion of multi-jurisdiction investment documentation and representations to ensure compliance with international law and global compliance requirements.
  • Responsibility for the Investment relationship with NILGOSC’s global custodian ensuring effective service delivery and contract management.
  • Responsibility for efficient transition of assets including completion of onboarding and account set-up documentation, together with ongoing responsibility for the completion of documentation relating to the safe and proper custody of the Fund’s assets.
  • Contribution to the development, enhancement, and implementation of NILGOSC’s responsible investment framework, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.

The Person: we are looking for someone who has excellent leadership skills, enjoys working as part of a team and has a positive and can-do attitude.  You will need:

  • A degree or equivalent third level qualification.
  • To be a qualified chartered accountant or chartered financial analyst and a current member of a recognised professional body.
  • Three years relevant financial experience eg monitoring financial performance, compilation and presentation of financial or investment data.
  • One years’ experience of financial markets including good knowledge of investment strategies, financial instruments, asset allocation, custody and performance measurement.
  • One years’ management experience to include the effective management, development and training of staff.
