Measures to prevent fraudulent attempts at identify theft.

NILGOSC has been made aware of potential phishing attempts targeting pension scheme members. These fraudulent messages may try to obtain your personal information or encourage you to click unsafe links.

Please take a moment to read the guidance below.

What to look out for:

  • Emails, texts, or calls claiming to be from NILGOSC that you were not expecting
  • Messages asking you to provide personal details, bank information, or login credentials
  • Requests to “verify” your account or “update your pension details” via a link
  • Misspellings, unusual sender addresses, or a sense of urgency

How to protect yourself:

  • NILGOSC will never ask you for your password, bank details, or MFA/security codes
  • Do not click unexpected links or open attachments claiming to relate to your pension. To safeguard yourself, always hover your mouse pointer over any links in the email before clicking. This simple action allows you to view the true destination of the link, which may differ from the displayed text. If the URL looks suspicious, unfamiliar, or doesn’t match our official website, do not proceed.
  • If you are unsure whether a message is genuine, do not respond

If you receive something suspicious:

Call us on 0345 3197 325
