Most people will change jobs several times during their working life, meaning that they may have more than one pension pot. Pensions Dashboards is a UK government initiative which will enable you to see simple information about your Scheme pension as well as any other pension savings that you have (including your State Pension), online, securely and in one place. This should help you to plan for retirement, make decisions around your long-term savings, and find any lost pension pots.
In order to use this service, the Money and Pensions Service (‘MaPS’) is creating a pensions dashboard for the government. There may also be other commercial dashboards available over time. All approved dashboards will serve the same purpose and link to the same data. When you first use a pensions dashboard, you will be asked to verify your identity using the government’s GOV.UK One Login service. You may be asked to provide identification documents as part of this process. Once your identity is verified, you will then be asked to input certain personal data, such as your address, date of birth and national insurance number. This data is used to search against pension providers to find all of your pension entitlements.
To match you with your pension benefits it is essential that the personal data NILGOSC holds for you is correct, and complete. You can check your details on My NILGOSC Pension Online and update your address details if necessary. If any of the other information that we hold is incorrect, please contact us so that we can update our systems. This will help us to fully match your pension pot and provide it to the dashboard (when it becomes available), without you needing to verify any other details.
All pension schemes are required to connect to the Pensions Dashboard by 31 October 2026. We do not know the date that dashboards will be made available to the public as this will be decided by the government, however they have committed to giving at least six months’ notice of this date.
We will update this page with more information once Pensions Dashboards are live.
How to resolve a possible match
The Pensions Dashboard Programme intend to carry out user testing between now and the date that Pensions Dashboards are formally launched in 2026. If you are part of this user testing group and have received a ‘possible match’ to a LGPS (NI) pension with NILGOSC showing on your personal dashboard page, you should get in touch with us to check if you have a pension. We will compare the details you have submitted to the Dashboard to the details held on our system to investigate if your identity matches. If we confirm that you have a pension with the LGPS (NI) this will then be authorised to appear on the dashboard. You only have 30 days from your initial Dashboard enquiry to get in touch with us to investigate this. After this time, your details will automatically expire.
To get in touch with us to investigate a possible match please contact us via email at pension.dashboard@nilgosc.org.uk (quoting your dashboard case number and contact details) or call 0345 3197 325, and ask for a Pension Dashboard enquiry.
